Supine Cluster 1: first few layers
These are the first few layers of Supine Cluster 1, a Layered Cluster taught in its entirety in the full RMP. The purchased course pairs this written example with an edited original RMP demonstration. Use the starts and cues below to rehearse the opening.
Use these four movements for your first rehearsal. Read one step, set the position and say the cue aloud while moving. The example uses 3+ springs on the teaching apparatus throughout this opening; it is not a universal colour prescription.
1 Footwork (V)
3 TO GET READY: lie on your back; toes on the bar; toes apart, heels together and knees apart. 1 TO GO: “Push the bed out and bring it back.” AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE: “Press heels together as much as possible. Keep knees wide apart.” The plan also develops Tendon Stretch, with heels up and heels under, after the basic movement is established.
2 Shoulder Bridge Frog Leg (V)
3 TO GET READY: lie on your back; heels high on top of the footbar; heels together, toes apart and knees wide. 1 TO GO: “Press heels down to peel hips up. Hips down.” AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE: refine in reps by pulling the bed through the stopper and keeping the knees wide as you press up. The later movement layer is hover and go, so the hips do not touch the bed.
3 Footwork (parallel) (Toes/Arches)
3 TO GET READY: lie on your back; toes on the bar; toes and knees together or close. 1 TO GO: “Push the bed out and bring it back.” AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE: refine in reps with the lower back down and knees pressing together. Tendon Stretch and then Running are later work in the plan; they are not extra instructions to give before the first reps.
4 Shoulder Bridge (parallel)
3 TO GET READY: lie on your back; heels high on the footbar; feet parallel. 1 TO GO: “Press heels down to peel hips up. Peel hips down.” AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE: refine in reps by pulling the bed through the stopper, shoulders down and chest up. Establish the double-leg movement before considering the plan’s hold or single-leg layer.
The Footwork and Shoulder Bridge alternation is deliberate. More spring makes Footwork heavier; fewer springs makes Shoulder Bridge harder and costs flow. Do not change springs at every movement. Later Hands in Straps, Feet in Straps and other work are outside this opening.
Use the framework at each return: refine in reps before holds, READ THE REPS, then change muscle group when challenged. An appropriate movement layer returns to steps 2–5; an equipment layer returns to steps 1–5. Spot differences and acknowledge success throughout.
