 Projects

Turn ideas into better teaching

Knowing an idea is one thing. Applying it is where the real learning happens.

Projects takes one movement concept and explores it in depth via workshops, uploaded content, weekly Q&A and community conversations - helping you understand it through the lens of:

  • Movement and Equipment layers
  • Biomechanics (strength/ROM/neuromotor skill/ agonists and antagonists)
  • The Law of the Spring
  • Reading the Reps
  • Effective cueing

And bringing it into your own teaching.

Each project runs on a 5 week cycle. We run 8 projects per year, all included in the Project subscription cost.

Combined with the HLP Online Studio, Projects creates an ongoing rhythm of practice, experimentation and development.

How Projects works

Each project follows a simple cycle:

Workshop  Implement → Reflect and Refine (Q&A/chat) → Teach again

Rather than giving you more exercises or another list of class plans (we do give you these as well!)

Projects helps you understand how to make better decisions as a teacher.

What you'll find inside

HLP Online Studio

Regular online classes to support your own practice and keep you connected to the work.

Teaching projects

Focused five-week projects exploring a specific movement, concept or programming challenge.

Examples may include:

  • Squat Lunges vs Split lunges vs Neutral "90/90" lunges
  • Long stretch pts 1,2,3 &4
  • Push-ups and their relationship to Grasshopper

Project workshops

Each project begins with a workshop exploring:

  • The exercise in detail - cueing, refinements, Movement and Equipment layers
  • Biomechanics - strength/ROM/Skill breakdown
  • How to 'read the reps' according to the essence and layer direction of the movement
  • How to apply all this effectively  in your teaching

Reflection and discussion

Explore what you observe as you teach the movement through weekly Q&A and community chat -what changes, what works and what you discover along the way.

Who is Projects for?

Projects is designed for teachers who want to:

  • Understand the HLP system as applied to individual layers
  • Understand how the concepts of the HLP system play out in specific exercises on a variety of bodies and class types

It’s suitable for teachers who may not have completed a major HLP programme but want a practical way to deepen their teaching in the HLP  Layered Cluster system.

What Projects helps you do
